What is digilocker
DigiLocker is a government-backed digital locker service in India that allows individuals to store their important documents, such as driving licenses and passports, in a secure, digital format. It also allows users to share their documents with various government and non-government organizations, such as banks and universities, through a secure, digital platform. DigiLocker is intended to reduce the need for individuals to physically carry important documents and to reduce the need for paper-based document verification.
Digilocker registration
To register for DigiLocker, you will need to have a valid mobile number and an email address.
Go to the DigiLocker website (https://digilocker.gov.in/)
Click on the "Sign Up" button
Enter your mobile number and email address
Click on the "Get OTP" button
An OTP (one-time password) will be sent to your mobile number and email
Enter the OTP in the designated field
Create a username and password
Click on the "Sign Up" button
You will be taken to your DigiLocker account dashboard, where you can upload and store your documents.
You can also use your Aadhaar card number to register for DigiLocker.
Once you are registered, you can also link your Aadhaar card number to your DigiLocker account to access the e-documents issued by the government.
Digilocker registration required documents
To register for DigiLocker, you will only need a valid mobile number and email address. However, to link your Aadhaar card number to your DigiLocker account, you will need a valid Aadhaar card number.
Once you have an account you can use it to upload and store important documents such as PAN card, voter ID card, driving license, passport, mark sheets and certificates, and other government-issued documents. These documents can be later used to verify your identity or to apply for various services such as getting a passport or a loan.
Please note that you need to upload the original documents to the Digilocker and it is not mandatory to link your Aadhaar to digilocker account, but it will help you to access the e-documents issued by the government.
